Climate Change impact on heritage sites in Luxor

In an effort to support raising the awareness of children on the adverse effects of climate change on Natural and Cultural heritage sites, the Hanns Seidel Foundation held a 2-day workshop in Cooperation with the Egyptian Environmental Affairs Agency in Luxor governorate.

Under the umbrella of cooperation between the Hanns Seidel Foundation and the Egyptian Environmental Affairs Agency, withing the framework of supporting environment protection in Egypt, and with the presence of Mr. Thomas Schama, the resident representative of the Hanns Seidel Foundation in Egypt, an awareness raising workshop was held during the period from 07.10.2024 until 08.10.2024.

The workshop aimed at raising the awareness of children on the importance of environment protection, as well as introducing the concept of climate change, and how it poses threats on heritage sites. Through interactive sessions, the children had the opportunity engage with the instructors in discussions on how to act environmentally friendly and protect the heritage sites in their governorate; Luxor.
