On the 2nd of December 2018, Hanns Seidel Foundation (HSS) officially launched its joint project with the National Management Institute (NMI) affiliated to the Ministry of Planning, Monitoring and Administrative Reform. This seminar came as an effort to raise awareness on the issues faced by persons with disabilities and to launch a series of workshops starting on the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) 03.12.2018 to support their inclusion in the sustainable development process. The event, which was held in collaboration with the National Council for Disability Affairs, hosted participants from different Egyptian ministries, governmental authorities and organizations working in the field of disability as well as members of the NMI. International agreements and new Egyptian laws endorsing the rights of PwDs were discussed and some speakers recounted success stories in supporting the inclusion of PwDs. Participants also discussed proposals and recommendations to support policies and programs for PWDs.
