Celebrating the International Day for Persons with Disabilities “Not all Disabilities are Visible”
Hanns Seidel Foundation joined forces with the Bibliotheca Alexandrina in organizing an awareness-raising event on the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
The celebration of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina was organized this year in collaboration with the Mental Health Secretariat - Child and Adolescent Department. The day aimed to raise awareness on different types of disabilities; highlighting the message of accepting the differences between people. The event included a lecture for the parents of PwDs to spread awareness and understanding of disabilities that are not immediately apparent, such as mental illnesses, neurological disorders, learning disabilities and cognitive dysfunctions, among others. The event also included speeches from inspiring PwDs to help motivate others, these speakers were later honored.The celebration of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities at the Library of Alexandria aims to provide the public with knowledge that supports the inclusion of persons with disabilities.
